The Department of the Navy, TVA, and Silicon Ranch Announce Partnership

In two recent press releases, the Department of the Navy and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) both announced a partnership with Silicon Ranch to develop the largest solar array in the state of Tennessee. The 53 megawatt (AC) solar array will be located at Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, Tennessee.

Part of the array’s output will contribute to the Navy’s “One Gigawatt” initiative to enhance energy security and resiliency at facilities that are critical to the defense of our nation. Silicon Ranch Corporation will fund, construct, own, and operate the solar facilities at NSA Mid-South and the adjoining land.

“Silicon Ranch is honored to partner with the Department of the Navy, TVA, and MIDB to deliver cost-effective, clean energy to serve NSA Mid-South. We remain focused on the economic, environmental, and community benefits this project brings to TVA’s ratepayers, to the city of Millington, and surrounding communities, and to the thousands of Tennesseans associated with the NSA Mid-South facility,” said Matt Kisber, Silicon Ranch Corporation president and CEO.

The solar project was initiated through a long-term power purchase agreement with TVA to produce solar energy at cost-competitive rates throughout the next 20 years.
