On February 8, 2016, The Georgia House of Representatives passed Resolution 1308 commending Green Power EMC, 27 of Georgia’s cooperatives, and Silicon Ranch for partnering on the 20 MW Hazlehurst Solar Farm. Green Power and the 27 participating EMCs are buying the approximate 43 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean, renewable electricity the plant will produce each year for the next 25 years.

The Hazlehurst Solar Farm was completed this past November and is one of two projects Silicon Ranch is building for Green Power EMC and its member cooperatives. The second facility will be a 52 MW AC solar farm located just down the road from the first project in Hazlehurst.

The resolution was sponsored by District 25 state Rep. Mike Dudgeon of south Forsyth and Reps. Karla Drenner of District 85 and Sam Teasley of District 37.
